Rhino and Ibex in Chained Beasts: What Is Confirmed?

Rhino and Ibex are confirmed playable-beast additions in the May 2026 Demo update. That announcement also says the existing beasts were reworked and that playing a beast earns XP toward variants. It does not supply a complete launch stat sheet for either newcomer.

Where were Rhino and Ibex announced?

Featherweight Games named both in its May 29 Demo update and repeated the additions in June’s Steam Next Fest preview. Those are developer sources, so the names and the existence of the rework are supported. Their publication dates also matter: they describe the Demo period.

The October launch overview announces eight unlockable beasts overall. It does not identify every starting availability rule or confirm that all Demo unlock conditions are identical in the final build. See unlocks and variants for the broader system.

Which beast should a beginner choose?

There is not enough verified comparative evidence here to declare Rhino or Ibex objectively better. Read the current selection screen and try the option whose described ability you can use deliberately. A familiar setup helps you learn positioning without changing several variables at once.

In co-op, discuss what each player intends to do before selecting a lineup. The most useful choice may be the one your crew can coordinate, rather than a rank taken from an old playtest. The chain teamwork guide explains that practical concern.

What information would make this a full comparison?

A proper comparison needs the current ability descriptions, unlock conditions, relevant stats and repeatable observations under comparable conditions. A screenshot can establish what a menu says; it cannot by itself establish a best build.

We will distinguish those evidence types when expanding this page. Until then, use the beginner guide to learn the shared systems and treat this page as a sourced character overview, not a tested ranking.
