Does Chained Beasts list Steam Cloud support?

Yes. The game’s Steam listing includes Steam Cloud. That establishes the advertised platform feature, while the developer determines which files and settings participate. The listing does not identify every synchronized file, a local save-file path or compatibility with every other edition.

Steam’s documentation describes synchronization around game sessions. This is different from the game’s own decision about when progress becomes a restorable checkpoint. Read saving and checkpoint restoration for the developer’s day-start and same-host guidance.

What should you do before changing computers?

The following sequence applies Steam’s general documentation. It has not been tested as a Chained Beasts-specific recovery procedure.

  1. Finish the session on the original computer and close the game normally.
  2. Leave Steam online so configured Cloud files can synchronize after exit.
  3. Check for any synchronization warning before starting the game on the second computer.
  4. Resolve a reported sync failure before continuing, rather than knowingly creating two diverging sessions.
  5. Confirm that the progress offered by the game matches the run you intended to resume.

Offline play cannot upload while the computer remains offline. Moving immediately to another device can therefore expose an older cloud copy. Automatic synchronization is not evidence that every recent action became an in-game save.

How should you handle a Cloud conflict?

Steam can ask you to choose when local and cloud copies disagree. Its support guidance says to compare the displayed dates and times with the progress you actually made. Do not automatically select the cloud copy, or blindly treat the newest timestamp as proof of the most valuable progress.

Situation Relevant distinction
Progress exists only on the original computer That machine may still contain changes that never synchronized
Steam reports a sync error before launch Starting anyway can create conflicts or lose progress
Two versions are offered Compare them with your actual play history before choosing
The game offers an earlier checkpoint Cloud status alone does not establish the game’s save timing

Steam Support says it cannot restore lost saves or decide which conflicting copy you should keep. This guide therefore does not promise recovery. Avoid deleting or overwriting the only remaining copy on the assumption that an unverified guide can restore it later.

Does Steam Cloud establish Windows–Mac or console cross-save?

No. Steam supports cross-operating-system Cloud integration, but its documentation says not every game implements that feature. We have not verified a Chained Beasts transfer between Windows and macOS. A Cloud badge alone does not settle that question.

It also does not connect Steam purchases to Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo saves. Xbox Play Anywhere has its own documented Microsoft-edition boundary. Cross-play describes joining players across supported platforms, which is another separate question.

What information helps when reporting a missing save?

Record the game version, computer operating systems, whether either session was offline, the exact Steam warning and which computer last showed the expected progress. Distinguish a missing local checkpoint from a failed platform synchronization.

Our reporting guide explains how to make that distinction useful. Do not attach private account details or claim a universal fix from a single successful synchronization.
