Chained Beasts Weapons and Equipment: A Practical Guide
Understand thrown weapons, pickups, shields and equipment decisions without relying on an unverified weapon tier list or damage table.

Chained Beasts lets you attack with weapons, throw them and use objects around the arena. Its official description also confirms equipment purchases between battles. Choosing a loadout therefore means considering what you can safely keep using, what you might lose access to, and what your next fight requires.
What should you check before throwing a weapon?
The developer explicitly warns that throwing can leave you in trouble if you do not have another weapon at hand. Our recommendation is to locate a replacement or a safe pickup route first. Do not assume the throw is free simply because it can reach an enemy.
With friends, communicate before crossing someone else’s line of movement. The co-op guide and chain tactics explain why individual equipment choices can become a group problem.
What weapons are documented?
The May Demo announcement introduced a bow; the July beta announcement added an axe. These confirm weapon types in those builds, not an exhaustive launch arsenal or a tested damage ordering. The launch overview lists more than forty items overall, which should not be misrepresented as forty distinct weapons.
Check the actual item’s current description before making comparisons. Effects on skills, defense or recovery may be more relevant to your situation than a hypothetical top damage value.
How did shields change during development?
The September 2025 developer update replaced starting shields with durability-based pickups and described blocking changes. This is useful history because very early playtest advice may assume a shield system that was subsequently revised.
Treat that post as a record of a change, not a guarantee of every launch interaction. When blocking behaves differently from an old video, inspect the current tutorial and item description before treating it as a bug.
What should you buy between fights?
Our advice is to identify the problem first: reaching enemies, surviving a mistake or replacing an unreliable option. Then compare the offered equipment with that need. The skills and shopping guide expands this approach; the combat basics page helps diagnose the problem you are trying to solve.
